WALKS Mañaneras I

photo a few years ago the entrance to the venue of the Squadron and Banda Municipal Bridge next to the French. You can see the many traces of impacts and distinguish an antique lamp that the Second Republic that instead of having the royal crown on the top has a castellated crown. This lamp has disappeared. TAPIA THE EAST AND DOORS OF THE COUNTRY HOUSE

Dear readers, today we begin a new section entitled "Walking Mañanero" dedicated to investigative journalism, driven by the brilliant success of television programs such as Street or Princess Barrio. We want to start making a tour of one of the most endearing districts of our beloved city of Madrid, Moncloa Aravaca. For this journey we as a guest star with the presence of skilled Moncloveño, the undisputed number one ranking, which will accompany us along the way and will guide us during the trip. This first

chronic traveler going to visit some places of the House, in search of the remains of the wall and the doors that lined the park in the area overlooking the river, much has already disappeared. This search has its origins in a legendary thread Viejo Madrid Forum focused on Bofarull Palace which you can access by clicking here. In some of the entries in this thread, where we highlight the unique, these two interventions that are skilled and Pepcor Agnes, came the question of the doors of the House, most of them disappeared, most recently in the monumental fall River Gate. However, some remnants observed suggests that we have not disappeared.

parts of the estate's rose garden, property of this great right, in search of those remains and after passing through the Parque del Oeste and refueling water in the Fountain of Health of medicinal waters and one of the few springs that have been preserved in Madrid we go to facilities where they are located Squadron and Banda Municipal Police in the French Bridge, an area which despite its modest exterior has a few remains of great historical interest. In the main part of its perimeter, we see that the plot is enclosed by a fence and ancient art that may not tell us anything, but thanks to the contributions of this great master of guerracivilmaquia and history of the House, is Luis de Vicente Montoya "Manzanares" we now know is the fence that enclosed the perimeter of the very fountain of Cibeles, Madrid monument par excellence, as well as the equally excellent and Neptune fountain in Madrid, as can be seen in many vintage photo.

In these images we can see the fence that surrounds the site today and two old photos in which we see the same gate in original location in the Cibeles fountain in 1906, and the Neptune fountain, protected of bombing during the civil war .

Another historical vestige to be found in this enclosure are the two columns that make up the porch entrance to the site, we venture to guess that these columns could be one of the ancient gates of the House, perhaps the de Castilla, at the beginning of the road of the same name on the Bridge of the French, or rather of the Mulberry, a little further south, where now the square of Paseo de Pinon. In these two pillars we can distinguish a good number of hits of bombs and gunfire, which offers a sign of hard fighting in this area during the civil war. Also in this

two columns we can distinguish two lamps with the old shield of the Villa de Madrid, but to the surprise and concern discovered that one of them has been replaced by something more modern. The original lamp was a Republican period, with its crenellated crown on top, a genuine historical relic of the very few remaining in Madrid and now one less. Not know which may have been the reason for the replacement, but we think he must obey some compelling reason unrelated to the fact that Republicans have symbols, if the change was due to the latter cause would be a rather mean and petty, as well of an attack on the heritage and I would say very little about the spirit civic and democratic responsible for replacement if it has been motivated by political or ideological reasons, something that is hard to believe these days they run. We also want to think, in our goodness, that this relic lies in a warehouse and has not been destroyed or sold as scrap.

Three photographs of the accso door to the enclosure, the first two are taken in the last few days, and the lower, published by courtesy of El Chato de Sales, was taken in November 2009. Estafarola republican period has disappeared from this site.

This site is also conserved, or preserved, a fort belonging to Franco's army, we must make this clear lest the lamp is gone for ideological reasons and that someone will think it was the other side and you by pick him. This fort is located along the banks of the river in the rear of the enclosure, next to the fence, protecting the gateway of Death is a few meters to the north or upstream. The last time they visited on a route Gefrema, was buried under a different building materials and hope to continue there.

We now turn to the Casa de Campo (Moncloveño takes a monumental tantrum over the issue of the lamp) we passed by the French Bridge, where the astute observer may detect a number of impacts on the structure of the witnesses to the intensity of the fighting at this point. We turn next to José María Cagigal sports complex and we have to cross the M30 by the cyclopean new bridge connecting to the House, and they could have done a little lighter in volume, poor neighbors, look out the window and found with that five meters. But the new bridge keeps a surprise, it appears under a strange parallel curb structure, and large boulders, with the fair bed of Arc still warm our first thought is inclined to question a sculpture or perhaps a performance of a Lithuanian artist, but soon ruled, not the coffers for bows. I do not know that reminds me of a picture of the floor of a Czech cross curbs Barcelona, and maybe there's the explanation for this structure. Perhaps the City Council has decided to make impracticable the low bridges to prevent them from a loft beggars and squatters. Knows all this Gallardón.

The new bridge that connects the Colonia del Manzanares in the country house, look at the structure under the same, the only explanation I have found is to prevent someone to take up residence here.

The Czech terrible Vallmajor in Barcelona, a place designed also to prevent held there could rest and break its resistance.

After the war, Himmler visited visiting Spain this dreadful place, perhaps for inspiration.

We arrived at the Casa de Campo after crossing the M30 and we found an old bridge over a stream where again we see a multitude of impacts, remember that this area was hard hit because it was a necessary step for vehicles and goods after flank Death Curve. Cross the Paseo Pinyon not without many difficulties due to the amount of cyclists that cross at right and left, one appears to be preparing to tour. We continue along this street towards the school and stop Stonework at the entrance to see other other important historical, ironwork gates of the former river port, shields surmounted by local Republicans, who now runs lie on the floor waiting for an uncertain future.

Upon arrival at the Casa de Campo for the new bridge, we came across this bridge where we find many traces of impacts.

grillwork doors torn from the former river port, shields and also kept Republicans, lie on the floor waiting for a really uncertain future.

continued our journey a few feet stuck to the side of the road of Castile up to the height of one of the entrances of the social historical anachronism and municipal land located on the Club de Campo. This entry Castilla road is flanked by two columns similar to those we saw at the headquarters of the Municipal Police band and possibly be the remains of some of the old historic doors Country House. The closest to this point would be that of Aravaca, or so-called de Castilla.

Entrance to Country Club Road from Castile, the columns that flank it may well have been part of some of the historical gates of access to the Casa de Campo.

re-enter the home of Campo, near the remains of the military road known as the Generalissimo track which probably dedicate another morning walk. And we for one of the roads parallel to the road and railway line are directed to the north. To reach the mouth, or rather the lake which forms the stream Antequina to meet the road, which has a blue-green color that we have very clear what is due, if due to a spill or produced by some kind of treatment you receive this water. We continue in a north and crossed a dense pine forest to reach another historic remains, the ruins of the Casa de Vacas, a former farm of the royal family that would be reduced to rubble during the war, still we can see the newly restored source us an idea of what could be the farm, watching the walls and even the manger where cattle grazed. Nearby are several fences, where the neighborhood grandpas have their little gardens caring with care. In the place they use as a meeting there are two pinnacles crowned possibly two columns to form another gate, perhaps the precincts of the House of cows or maybe another park entrance.

Different pictures of what was a major pig farm belonging to the Crown, known as the Casa de Vacas. The building and facilities would be destroyed in the war.

continue north to reach the current park boundary at the junction to form the Carretera de Castilla and the Way of the two castles. Although just before we reach the remains of the spoils of cable thieves, you have undoubtedly used the site to select their merchandise.

Remains of what appears to the spoils of cable thieves, who probably took it away and hiding place for "manufacturing" the goods.

In this northeastern corner of the park there is a departure from the old original wall continued to the river, and the new park that borders the current parallel to the Carretera de Castilla. In the historical part of the wall we can see the strange holes have already much discussion forum Gefrema. We went through this door and after crossing the road to Castilla for a flyover on the place where it should be the original door Aravaca, rescontramos us another piece of historical canvas wall that serves as the Foundation Gotze and leads us to another door Country Club, where we find again two columns flanking the entrance, which probably belonged to another historic door, though Aravaca cited either of the Gutter which was closer to the River.

returned to the starting point in the Moncloa taking the bus under the bridge above, which turns uphill is very bad at certain ages, with the unpleasant surprise to see this stop turned into a trash left by the hand of God, which certainly have not passed the cleaning equipment for several months and it continues this way end up becoming a spectacular archaeological site where future generations will see in the different layers, changing tastes consumption of 161 bus passengers through the ages. Here is a tremendous photo complaint.

Sorry state of the bus stop is located on the Carretera de Castilla under the bridge. It seems that this did not work the cleaning of City Hall.

So far this first morning walk we hope to repeat in coming days, if you want to sign up to get their request at this writing and inform them of upcoming departures. These trips are completely free to complete payment, to pay you an aperitif at the end of the ride is enough, but I warn you Moncloveño is much suck and better repast. What I do not understand is as to what can keep racking this slender and slender figure. Metabolism things, I guess. Florentino

Sanders.

BONUS TRACK:

For the same price included in this edition of Sun and Fly an extra special with a flat map Country House in 1936, another comment and a satellite photo NASA hired expressly for this wording to see the remains today from outer space, a first that we hope you enjoy it.

We have seen in the historical chronicle the wall ends just before reaching the Carretera de Castilla, however next to the other side of the street near the entrance to Country Club remains one canvas wall, but we can not know its total length. The aerial photo we can see that the original route of the fence that bordered the park is preserved, we do not know is whether this is the original wall and it is distinguished uqe is a line of vegetation, formed after two angles the wall and disappeared completely when you get to the golf course, originally this wall sores until the river Manzanares.

Piece of canvas wall that is on the other side of the Carretera de Castilla, part of the perimeter of the Foundation Gotze. We do not know the total length of the wall at this point, although the perimeter of the former House coincides with the current Country Club, but in the area of the golf course the wall has been removed .
